The biggest chance the candle has is to be in more than one room. Multiplanetary is backup, not vanity.

After the backup is real: we do not only survive. We become a people among the stars, and we are glad.
Do not skip 1. Do not lead with $847 billion. Do not pretend the candle is already a sun.
The same vulnerability in culture (the LA line)
Civilizations die one of two ways: the planet fails, or the people who carry beauty, craft, and nerve are chewed up before they can build the next room.
Los Angeles already runs the second failure mode.
Talent is told the body is the product and the contract is the cage.

Nightlife and “opportunity” can slide into work people did not choose.
New York had to pass a Fashion Workers Act because the old stack did not protect models: registration, commission caps, no upfront fees, written contracts, rules on nude/explicit work, complaint rights. California’s Talent Agencies Act is being used in real Labor Commissioner fights. Hollywood production days are down; crews already know the floor can vanish. That is the candle at street level.

We do not write height, dress size, or “good genes” into policy, grants, or bylaws. That is eugenics. It will kill federal eligibility and most serious capital.

Beauty, fitness, art, and adult eroticism stay in the house as craft and consent, not as a breeding thesis.
What the federal government actually buys
FY2026 pattern, not a conspiracy board:
Defense + NIH + Energy + NASA + NSF still dominate federal R&D. Mission language: security, health, energy, space, workforce.
NEA / NEH stay in the low hundreds of millions — arts as economy and healing, including arts × AI competency.
DOL is funding reskill / dislocated-worker / skilled-trade / AI-infrastructure workforce language.
State ECA-style creative-tech exchange exists: arts + emerging tech as exportable American soft power.
California still writes film-credit checks because production leaving L.A. is a jobs problem.
They will not fund “preserve supermodel genetics.”
They will fund: worker protection in creative industries, arts-and-AI training, STEM/space literacy, mental and occupational health, place-based jobs when robots eat routine work.

Product robots cannot dump: live presence, authored beauty, ritual, rooms people pay to enter.
Rights stack: contracts, files, likeness, housing option — a studio group with clean books.
Public-good wrapper: Foundation owns mission; operating companies donate up and stay private so the house is not boarded by an index.
Pitch them (or family offices that copy them) as: human premium in an automated century, not as anti-index politics.
Perfect-enough society after Mars (and after a billion robot workers)
Not a nation. A campus + rights stack + curriculum.
Four engines, one charter:
DEPTHS — teach the backup (sea, ice, space analog). Public good.
LIFE — living-systems literacy with licensed labs. No pathogen work in-house.
MIND — AI → AGI literacy → ASI stewardship. Humans stay the authors of ends.
ISLAND — the viable product when labor is cheap: rooms, runway, food, music, film, adult art under contract. Fitness and beauty as training and craft.
When robot hours go toward zero cost, price concentrates where a specific human is the point. That is the business. Eroticism and fashion are legal adult crafts inside that room, with the same labor law as any set.
